Anulex Announces First U.S. Implantation of the Xclose™ Tissue Repair System
Minneapolis -

MINNEAPOLIS -- Anulex Technologies, Inc. announced today the first U.S. procedure using a novel, new tissue repair device, the Xclose™ Tissue Repair System. The procedure was performed by Kenneth Yonemura, M.D., a neurosurgeon at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Xclose™ Tissue Repair System provides a fast, simple, and safe way to re-approximate soft tissue defects. Dr. Yonemura commented, “The Xclose device provides an unique new method for treating the weakened tissue of the anulus fibrosus following a lumbar discectomy procedure. Previously, we have not had a reliable method of closing the anulus and when it is not repaired, the material inside of the disc may re-extrude from the disc, compress the nerve root, and result in recurrent pain and reoperation.”

The Xclose Tissue Repair System was first implanted outside of the U.S. by Dr. Guillermo Bajares in Caracas, Venezuela. The product received U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance and represents the Company’s second product offering in its soft tissue repair product family. Michael K. McCormick, President & CEO of Anulex Technologies, Inc. said, “The Xclose Tissue Repair System complements our Inclose™ Surgical Mesh System to provide an expanded treatment option for soft tissue repair.” McCormick went on to say, “The Company looks forward to expanding its U.S. distribution of the Xclose and Inclose Systems in 2007.”
